The ending doesn’t add to any of that, at all. The entire first half of the book is Nadya and her gang trying to get to the capital, where they’re going to infiltrate the court to get the evil king to stop the war? I don’t know okay, I forgot. On the other hand, I hate it because it’s so random. On one hand, I love it because it’s so random. In fact, let’s talk about the ending that I have a love-hate relationship with. What about action? Oh sure, you have your typical fight scenes, but most of them don’t really contribute anything to the ending. Any tension? It’s pretty much escaped my notice. Even though the cover looks pretty, what’s inside is a mediocre fantasy that builds too heavily on preexisting books and is of questionable entertainment quality at best.
